Historical note

Bernhard Neufeld, minister and farmer, was born June 24, 1891. He was baptized at the age of 20 on May 26, 1912 and became a member of the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in Manitoba. Later that year he married Maria Hildebrand on July 18th. Their marriage produced 15 children which included seven daughters and eight sons. Neufeld was elected to the ministry at Sommerfeld on June 28, 1927 and ordained by Aeltester Henry J. Friesen. In 1948 Neufeld left for Paraguay with many others who were seeking religious freedom and new opportunities.  Bernhard Neufeld died July 11, 1976 in Paraguay.

Scope and content note

This fonds contains four sermons which include a record of when and where each was preached. Sermon topics include: 1) The second coming of the Lord at the end of time and his judgement of the good and the evil. 2) True Christians fear of the Lord based on Luke 5:8-9. 3) Reconcilliation and unity in the Church referring to Romans 11-22. 4) Resisting the powers of this world and putting on the armor of God referring to Ephesians 6:10-18.
