Historical note

Bruno Entz, minister and farmer, was born on July 3, 1899 in Tiegenhagen, West Prussia. He was baptized at the age of 15 in Ladedopp after receiving cathacism instruction from Aeltester Neufeld of Orlofferfelde. He married Helene Hinz in 1918 and together they had three children, a daughter and two sons. Both sons died during the war. After he completed his basic education, Entz went to agricultural school and then began farming in Tiege. In 1939 he was called to the ministry by the Orlofferfelder church in West Prussia where he served until 1945. After the war he and his family went to Denmark as refugees. Here Entz helped to reunite families and minister to the physical and spiritual needs of other refugees. He and his family came to Canada in 1949 where Entz was able to study at the Mennonite Brethren Bible College for three years. He then went on to serve for one year in South America as an evangelist. From 1954-1963 he served in the Greendale Church in British Columbia. In 1963 he was called to minister at the Springfield Heights Mennonite Church in Winnipeg. Bruno Entz died on October 27, 1967. He is remembered for his happy, optomistic nature.
