Peter D. Berg, minister and farmer, was born on April 21, 1892 in Gnadenfeld, Manitoba. He one of five children born to Derk and Maria Berg. His father died before he was born and he was raised by foster parents, Martin and Sarah Klassen. During these years he attended private school in Weidenfeld. Berg was baptized and became a member of the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in 1912. A year later, he married Elizabeth Falk on July 21, 1913. The first five years of their marriage they lived with Berg's foster parents. Their marriage produced five children and one daughter who died as a child. In 1918 he moved with his family to a farm near Rosenfeld. Berg was a charter member of the Rudnerweide Church and was ordained to the ministry in that church at Altona on April 12, 1937 by Aeltester W. H. Falk. In 1962 Berg retired to Altona. He enjoyed his retirement persuing many hobbies which included building miniature models, carpentry work, gardening and much visitation. He also loved playing the violin but above all he enjoyed spending time with his family which was very important to him. Peter D. Berg died December 16, 1977.
This fonds contains one sermon entitled, "Das Beste Teil" (The Best Part) written for the Ladies Aid in Rosenfeld. It also contains some sermon notes.
