    Historical note

    The Reinland EMMC church was one of the early churches of the Rudnerweider Mennoniten Gemeinde, a split from the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in 1937 under the leadership of Rev. Wilhelm H. Falk. One of the 4 ministers who left the Sommerfeld church was Peter S. Zacharias who gave strong leadership to the congregation in Reinland until he died in 1957.

    The congregation at Reinland began meet in the church building in 1938.  While Sunday School was important, the church did not opperate its own Sunday school prgram until 1965.  Until this time children attended the community Sunday school programs. In 1967 a new education wing was built onto the church to accommodate the growing Sunday school program, which included classes for adults.

    Leaders included Peter S. Zacharias (1937-1957), George Zacharias (1958-1980), Ed Zacharias (1980-1984), Loren Guenther (1984-1994), Darrell Dyck (1994-2003), Roy Hiebert (2005-2008).   In 1986 the membership at the church stood at 60 baptized adults. The church closed in September 2008.

    The materials in this fonds consists of scattered church council, annual meeting, and ministerial minutes, bulletins, financial records and a few records from Eden Mental Health Care services in Winkler, Manitoba.
