Lancaster County is perhaps the best known Mennonite community in America. This county includes what was formerly the Pequea Colony. It is still the home of the Amish and the Old Mennonites. The soil and climate in this county are ideal for agriculture. The administrative offices for Mennonites Central Committee (MCC) are in the town of Akron.
