Mennonite Settlements in the North Caucasus Region  (p. 131)

 

The Mennonite settlements in this area were located in the fertile valleys on the northern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains. The railway was built during the 1870's to carry oil from Baku to the industrial cities of European Russia.

Olgino was settled in 1895 by “Templers”.

The Terek Colony settled in 1901 was a daughter colony of Molotschna.
