Historical note

Emmanuel Mennonite Church was founded in 1981 in Abbotsford, B.C. It was a result of the Eben-Ezer Mennonite Church taking the initiative to form an English-language congregation for members in their mainly German-language congregation. They worship in their own meeting house. In 1984 the membership was 118. In 1989 the membership was 160 and in 2002 it was 188. The leaders of the congregation were: Dick Rempel (1982-1984), Ron Toews (1985), David Ortis (1986-1991), Lorne Dick (1992-1993), April Yamasaki (1994- ).

The records pertain to the founding and development of the Mennonite congregation in Abbotsford, B.C. They document some of the leaders and participants in the congregation.
